A commercial driver’s license (CDL) is a driver’s license required to operate a specific certain specialized types of vehicles such as buses or tank trucks in the United States in commerce.

Class A CDL license allows the truck driver to operate any vehicle with a semi-trailer or trailer with two or more axles with a gross combination weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 pounds, or more. This includes towed unit(s) with a gross weight rating (GVWR) of more than 10,000 lbs.
A Class A CDL will enable you to operate:
- Truck and trailer combinations (double and triple trailers)
- Tractor-trailers and flatbeds
- Livestock carriers
- Tractor-trailer buses
- Tanker vehicles
